Things that I am doing right now to save money

Walmart Discount Card..... If you read my previous post, you know I work at Walmart and I have a discount card that saves me 10%. In the past I was taking that money that I saved with my discount card and putting it in a jug. This year I am doing the same thing, but in a different way. I have a Pay card that has "Piggy Banks" where you can set money aside. I named one of those "Walmart Discounts" and just transfer whatever I save with my discount card into that Piggy Bank. As of today, I have $24.19 in that Piggy Bank, since January 1. Saving Whatever Is Left In My Account On The Day Before Payday.....Whatever is left on my Pay card the day before Pay day, I transfer into another Piggy Bank that I named "Save". I have been doing this since I received my Pay card in October ( I think), as of today I have $30.74 in that Piggy Bank. Save Percentage Of Each Pay.....Starting with my first pay in January, which was $413 and change, I put 1% in another Piggy Bank that I named Christmas. I plan to continue to do that each payday. I also have a Blue Bird card that has a savings option on the account, and I put 1% of my pay in that savings option. But this account is just for saving, not for Christmas. Save What I Saved Using Coupons..... If I use a coupon, I put that money back. My thought here is that if I run low on money for groceries, I have this money that I can use if I need to, otherwise it can build up. I was putting this money in a zip lock bag. I decided to do it differently this year. Since I mainly only buy groceries at Walmart and work at Walmart, I decided to put this money on a Walmart gift card. Put Money Back Each Payday For Groceries.....My 21 year old daughter moved back home last year and pays rent. Until she moved home, we all ( my boyfriend, my oldest son and myself) mainly just took care of ourselves and I did not really go grocery shopping on a regular basis. But now I go grocery shopping every week and my daughter cooks supper for everyone. I keep this money separate and I use that money for groceries but that money only lasts for 2 or 3 weeks. On average, I spend anywhere from $60 to $80 a week on groceries. So starting this month, I am putting 10% of my pay with this money, so at the end of the month there will be money for groceries. Fill A 2-Liter Bottle With Dimes And You Will Have $700..... I saw this on Facebook sometime in October or November of last year and started putting my dimes in a 2-liter bottle. We will see how long it takes to fill it up and if it does actually add up to $700. A Penny A Day......I tried this last year but did not keep up with it, so I am going to try it again this year. The idea is.....On Jan.1, put 1 penny back, Jan 2. put back 2 pennies, Jan 3 put 3 pennies back and so forth. Each day adding a penny more that the day before. So on Dec. 31 you will be adding 365 pennies ( or $3.65). I forget what you are suppose to have a the end of the year, but everything little bit saved helps.

Ways that I have been saving money

First of all, I work at Walmart so I have a discount card that saves me 10% and I use it every time I purchase something, even something small. I have been taking whatever I save with my discount card and putting it back, I usually use that money for birthday and Christmas presents. This Christmas, I put everything I had saved from my Walmart discount card from October 15 to December 15 in a jug that I decorated to say " Sam's Tatoo Fund" and gave that to my oldest son who is wanting to get some more tatoos when he gets his income tax refund this year :-) Walmart Savings Catcher.....This is an app on my phone where you scan your Walmart receipts and if the app finds a lower price from ads in your local area you get the difference back. You can either get the difference back through a Walmart E-Gift card or Walmart Bucks on a Blue Bird Card. I have my money back put on a Walmart E-gift card and have the E-gift card attached to my Walmart Pay, which is also in the Walmart app. Walmart Pay is in the Walmart app and you can set it up by adding gift cards or debit/credit cards to pay at the register from your phone by scanning the Q code on the credit card machine at the register. If you use Walmart Pay to pay for your purchase you do not get a paper receipt at the register, but your receipt is available on the Walmart app and is automatically sent to the Savings catcher to look for lower prices. Ibotta.... I have been doing Ibotta since October or November and I just today received my first $20 payout! Ibotta is a phone app that gives you cash back on items that are on their app that you purchase. All you have to do is after you go shopping, look at the app, if you purchased an item on the app that is listed on Ibotta, you just click on it and sometimes you will have to watch a short video or answer a question to unlock that item. Then you scan the barcode on the item and scan your receipt. You instantly get rewarded. BUT you have to build up your rewards to $20 before you can cash out your rewards. Once you get to $20 you can cash out with Pay Pal or a gift card for different businesses. I only purchase items that I know my family will eat, but I am sure many people maximize this app by purchasing whatever is listed on the app. There are other apps like Ibotta that I have on my phone, but Ibotta is the one that I get the most from. The other apps that I am aware of are : Checkout 51, Savings Star and MobiSave. Coupons and Mobile Coupons.....I use coupons that are in the Sunday paper or printed out from Coupons.com. I only save or print out coupons that I know I will use. At this time, the only Mobile coupons I have been using is Dollar General from their app, because I live in a small town and usually only shop at Walmart or Dollar General. Fill A 2-Liter Bottle With Dimes And You Will Have $700..... I saw this on Facebook sometime in October or November of last year and started putting my dimes in a 2-liter bottle. We will see how long it takes to fill it up and if it does actually add up to $700. Speaking Of Coins..... I save any old silver coins I find. I was given a 1951 silver quarter last summer as change at a yard sale and sold it to a local silver/gold store for $4. I've tried some differ ways to save in the past, but usually before the end of the year something has come up and I have had to use that money for something other than the reason I was trying to save it for.

Welcome!

I decided to start a blog about a lot of random stuff. I will be posting different ways I am saving or making extra money, recipes, and anything else that comes to mind. I am always trying to find different ways to save or make extra money, which I am sure a lot of other people are doing also. There are somethings that I have been doing and some new things that I started doing since the start of the year. I am always looking for recipes to try and always putting them in my favorites, now I will be posting them here and if I try them I will blog about how they came out and what we thought of the recipe.
